BUDDHAS

Meaning ‘one who is awake’. Most buddha carvings are depictions of Siddhartha Gautama who is thought to be the founder of Buddhism - when he reached enlightenment and went on to teach others how to realise this path for themselves. Many other buddha carvings are of what we refer to as the laughing Buddha, the protector of children, the sick and the weak. He is thought to bring Joy, laughter and abundance. Rubbing a carving of this Buddha’s belly is thought to bring luck and abundance.

Each carving is individual and may differ slightly from the picture.
